TORONTO — Police say they’re looking for three suspects in an overnight shooting that left a man dead in Toronto’s west end.

Toronto police say gunshots were heard around Scarlett Road and Scarlettwood Court in the city’s Etobicoke area on Friday evening.

When officers arrived, they say they found a 30-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

Police say life-saving measures were performed at the scene before the man was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

In a news conference Saturday, Det. Sgt. Nathan Gibson said the victim, Toronto resident Ahmed-Nur Ismail, was found in a vehicle parked in a parking lot.

Gibson said there were multiple shooters and the suspects took off in a vehicle.

Asked whether police believe the incident was targeted, Gibson said it was too early in the investigation to say.

Gibson said residents in the area can expect an increased police presence for the foreseeable future as officers continue to investigate and canvass for witnesses.

“I want to acknowledge how tragic and deeply concerning this incident is for the community, and I want to assure the public that every available resource is being dedicated to identifying and locating those responsible,” he said

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or who has footage of the incident to contact police.
