A man in his 40s is dead after he was struck by a tractor trailer on Barton Street east of the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

It happened just before midnight between Nash Road and Kenora Ave.

At this point police aren’t able to confirm why the man was in the path of the westbound truck.

Barton was closed all night as the collision reconstruction team investigated, but re-opened for the morning rush.

The truck driver remained at the scene.  At this point there’s no word on any charges.

The truck is owned by steel-hauling specialists Dean Cartage Inc. of Grimsby.

Police are looking for witnesses.
