Man in vehicle points firearm at victim doing yard work: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police say a man has been arrested after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a resident who was doing yard work.

Officers were called to a home on Wellington Rd. 10 in the township of Mapleton last Friday around 5:30 p.m.

Police learned a resident was outside doing some yard work when they heard someone yell at them from the roadway.

The victim turned around and saw a passenger in a vehicle pointing a firearm in their direction.

The vehicle was described as a white Mazda and was last seen travelling westbound on Wellington Rd. 10.

Officers patrolled the area and located a vehicle matching the description at a home on the same street.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man and seized an airsoft revolver.

The man has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 28.
