Man in 20s seriously injured after being stabbed in Welland home

A man in his 20s had to be flown to an out-of-region hospital after he was stabbed at a home in Welland early Sunday.
Police say they were called to a residence near Cottonwood Crescent and Tumblewood Place at 1:53 a.m.
When they arrived, they located a man in his 20s who had just recently been stabbed.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene for serious injuries before he was taken to hospital.

“He was initially transported to a local hospital and then transported by ORNGE air ambulance to an out-of-region hospital for further care,” authorities said in an update Sunday afternoon.
They add that the investigating detectives have reason to believe this isn’t a random stabbing. “Currently there is no ongoing threat to community safety stemming from the incident.”
