Man charged with impaired driving after hitting a pedestrian

A 31 year old Hamilton man has been arrested and charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm after seriously injuring an elderly woman, when he struck her with his vehicle while pulling out of a driveway.

The incident occurred in the area of Summercrest Drive around 4 pm on March 14th.

The driver remained on the scene and he and the passenger tried to help the 83 year old woman until paramedics arrived. She was rushed to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police determined that alcohol was a factor in the collision.

He has been released on a promise to appear in court at a future date to answer to the charges.
