Brant County provincial police have arrested a man after a standoff in Paris, Ont., over the weekend.
Ontario Provincial Police say they went to a home after receiving reports of a health concern for the 39-year-old owner.
Officers say they attempted to contact the man by knocking on the front door and received no response. They say they were able to contact the man by cell phone.
Investigators say they were instructed by the homeowner to leave the property.
Police say the person who reported the health concern told them the man stated no one should come to the home as he had firearms and was prepared to use them. The man also indicated that he was not willing to speak any further with police and would not be coming to the door.

Police issued a hold and secure for the surrounding area.
Authorities say they negotiated with the man for several hours and he continued to refuse to comply with the officers’ request for him to leave.
The OPP say this led them to enter the home at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday and arrest the man on three firearm charges.
The man remains in custody following his bail hearing Sunday.
