Machinists’ union pickets Terminal One

The union representing some of Air Canada’s employees decided to demonstrate at Terminal One.

The airline’s baggage handlers, mechanics and cargo workers are upset with labour minister Lisa Raitt after she ordered them not to strike, and to go to the Canadian Industrial Relations Board. The federal government has now served notice it will have back-to-work legislation ready as early as next week.

8,600 Workers, along with 3,000 Air Canada pilots were set to strike this Sunday at 12:01, after not agreeing on a contract with Air Canada.
