Emilio Mascia, who spent over 40 years as the host of the longtime CHCH program “Italian Panorama”, has died at the age of 94.
Mascia’s family announced his peaceful passing last Saturday.
He was also a broadcaster on CHML radio, the founder of Telelatino Television and was among the first to bring World Cup soccer broadcasts to North American audiences.
“Through his work, Emilio delivered a message of hope, inspiration and belonging to newcomers across Canada. Although he was welcomed into millions of homes each week, he never lost the personal touch that defined him,” Mascia’s family said in his obituary.

Additionally, Mascia found time to volunteer in community organizations and was a founding member of Festitalia corp.
Mascia’s loved ones said in his obituary that his family was his greatest source of joy. They said his kindness, generosity, sense of humour and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew him.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Hamilton this Saturday at 10 a.m.
In memory of Mascia, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation.
