Local festivals draw crowds despite rainy weather

This holiday Monday started off rainy and gloomy but that didn’t stop festival-goers from showing up to local festivals.
Organizers at the Oh Canada Ribfest in Waterdown were paying close attention to the forecast on Monday after the rain washed out the event on Sunday. Organizer Nick Brown says they would usually expect 15,000 people to visit on Sunday, but because of the rain, he says there were only 5,000. On Saturday, the festival had a record breaking single day crowd with 23,000 people in attendance.

The sun broke out around noon on Monday which was a welcomed change for vendors and customers at It’s Your Festival in Gage Park. The event had its fair share of challenges with the weather over the weekend. The rain on Sunday night led to headliner Jully Black’s show getting cancelled for safety reasons.
Oh Canada Ribfest wrapped up at 8 p.m. and I’ts Your Festival wraps up at 11 p.m. on Monday.
