Lincoln County Humane Society announces its new name

The Lincoln County Humane Society has changed its name 96 years after its founding.
The animal welfare organization will now be known as the Humane Society of Greater Niagara.
Executive director Kevin Strooband said the decision was made in order to better reflect the area they provide service for.
“Through the expansion of our service area, we continue to provide excellent animal care to those animals who may be homeless, sick or injured,” Strooband said in a statement Wednesday.

“As a leader in animal welfare and a trusted organization in our community, the Humane Society of Greater Niagara will always work in the best interests of animals, as we continue to speak for those who cannot speak.”
Along with its new name, the humane society has rebranded its website and redesigned its logo, which now features silhouettes of a cat and dog in green and blue surrounded by a heart.
The organization officially formed in March 1927 as the Lincoln County Humane Society.
It now serves Fort Erie, Grimsby, Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines and Thorold.
