Keeping kids busy Friday

Updated With public schools closed Friday for a teachers’ protest, parents are being forced to find other ways to keep their kids occupied.
As parents try to find a place for their kids, child care centers are working on extending hours, hiring extra staff and preparing for more children than normal. Kate Carnegie reports:
Hamilton’s recreation department has added the following swim and gym times to their regular Friday program:
- Bennetto Recreation Centre – additional open swim, 1:15-2:15 pm
- Central Memorial Recreation Centre – additional open swim, 1:30 – 3:30 pm
- Hill Park Recreation Centre – additional open swim, 4:00 – 5:00 pm
- Huntington Park Recreation Centre – additional open swim, 1:00 – 3:00 pm and additional open gym, 9 am – noon
- Norman Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre – additional open swim, 3:00 – 4:00 pm
- Ryerson Recreation Centre – additional open swim, 2:15 – 3:15 pm
- Valley Park Recreation Centre – additional open swim, 12:00 – 2:30 pm
