Jude Strickland remembered in candlelight vigil

A vigil was held Thursday night for the Hamilton boy who was struck while crossing the street.
Eleven-year-old Jude Strickland was crossing the street near Upper Gage and Royalvista Dr. on Tuesday afternoon, when he was hit by a driver.
Strickland died in hospital overnight on Thursday.
“He was funny, kind, he was never angry at anyone, even if someone did something rude,” said Jared Linden, who was a friend.
Families and faculty at Templemead Elementary School, where Strickland was a student, held a vigil Thursday night.
“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” said organizer Jessica Paiva.
“It’s showing all the children to be safer because we just don’t know, we really just don’t know when you’re crossing a road.”
Police say the man behind the wheel failed to stop for both the traffic light and the crossing guard.
28-year-old Brandon Aubert has been charged with dangerous driving causing death.
