Impact of Hurricane Milton felt by locals in Golden Horseshoe

Florida residents are beginning the cleanup process after Hurricane Milton, the second storm to hit the region in less than two weeks.
Milton knocked out power to more than three million people, tearing apart homes, and causing widespread flooding.
And the effects of the intense storm are being felt here at home, too.
Local residents who own properties in Florida tell CHCH News they feared the worst when the storm hit.
“As I’m communicating with neighbours and friends I have [in Florida]…it went eerily quiet,” Renee Rebello of Grimsby said.
“So it went from all these weird noises…to absolute silence.”
Ancaster’s Robert Bagliolid says he was more concerned about what came as a byproduct of the hurricane.
“It’s not so much the hurricane that’s the scary part…it’s really the water surge,” Bagliolid said.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Milton is now considered a post-tropical cyclone.
