Police have identified a mother and her two children killed in a crash north of Orangeville yesterday afternoon.
43-year old Tina Andersen, 43, of Orangeville, and her sons Benjamin Parkinson, 3, and Gunner Parkinson, 6, were killed when their SUV hit a dump truck head-on.
It happened on Highway 89 east of Shelburne. Andersen and her Benjamin died at the scene, while Gunner died in hospital.
Paul Nancekivell of Ontario Provincial Police calls it “the worst scene I’ve seen in 28 years of policing.”
“You never want to go to a scene where there are children who have perished and that’s very hard on our officers and first responders coming upon it”
The dump truck driver was taken to hospital and has since been released. Ppolice say even though the boys were strapped into their booster seats, they didn’t stand a chance of surviving.
CHCH’s Kate Carnegie will have a full report tonight on the Evening News at 6.
