HWDSB trustees recommend resignation of colleague Carole Paikin Miller

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board trustees are recommending that fellow trustee Carole Paikin Miller resign.
This came Thursday, after a special board meeting focused on the findings of an internal code of conduct probe into allegations of racism and oppression.
Trustees looked at whether four trustees had breached their code of conduct after a third-party report found evidence of racism and efforts to silence the voice of former student trustee Ahona Mehdi.

They voted to sanction two of the trustees: Paikin Miller and Alex Johnstone. Only Paikin Miller was asked to resign.
“The investigator’s report clearly details that we failed to create a supportive and accepting environment for Ahona Mehdi,” said board Chair Dawn Danko in a statement.
“On behalf of the Board, we want to once again apologize to her. We can, and must, do better. This starts with holding ourselves accountable, both as a Board and as individuals.”
