Hundreds pay respects to Jean Beliveau

Former teammates, the premier of Quebec, and hundreds of fans turned out Sunday to pay tribute to legendary Montreal Canadiens captain Jean Beliveau.

The former Canadiens star died Tuesday at the age of 83 after a long illness.

Beliveau won 10 Stanley Cups as a player with the Canadiens from 1950 to 1971 and another seven as an administrator.

A public viewing will continue Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at two o’clock at the Mary Queen of the World Cathedral in Montreal.
