Gas prices expected to drop through the holidays

Most drivers are cheered by this season of low gas prices.

Roger McKnight, a petroleum analyst, says gas prices will keep going down through Christmas and into the new year

He says it’s because of a crude oil price war between OPEC and U.S. shale producers.

Low gas prices are an advantage for Ontario’s manufacturing industry, which can offer cheaper exports, but they hurt western Canadian jobs and investment.

McKnight expects gas prices will stay where they are until next Wednesday, that’s when we’ll see the next drop, and they’ll keep going down into the new year.

However McKnight thinks this trend won’t last beyond six months, by then he says members of OPEC will be anxious to start raising prices again.
