Historic win for Team Canada at World Gymnastics Championship

The Canadian women’s team climbed all the way from last place yesterday to win a bronze medal at the World Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool.
This is the first time a Canadian women’s team has medalled in the event, and they punched their ticket to the 2024 Olympics as well.
19-year-old Emma Spence, who trains at the Burlington Gymnastics Club says it’s the fact the team clawed their way out of last place to win a medal that she’ll remember the most.
“The mentality we had going into this was we had nothing to lose. We laid it on the floor and tried our best,” Spence said.
That mentality allowed the team to clinch a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Spence is quick to point out that none of this would have been possible without the help of everyone at her gymnastics club, “there’s so much work and so many people that went into this.”
