Bus delays leave high school students scrambling to get to class

Some school buses in Hamilton are showing up 45 minutes to an hour late, leaving students scrambling to get to class. The delays are impacting both public and catholic schools in our area.

The Hamilton Wentworth Student Transportation Services posts their delayed buses online. Public, catholic, high schools and elementary schools are impacted on a daily basis. Some buses are fifteen minutes late, others up to an hour behind.

Ancaster High School starts at 8:15 a.m. The students say if they were to wait for the bus, most days they would miss the first period.

The Hamilton-Wentworth Public School Board says the delays are a result of bus drivers being absent because of COVID-19, adding that they are working with the Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services to hire and train more drivers specifically assigned to the Ancaster community.
