Help name the Toronto Zoo’s baby giraffe

The Toronto Zoo is asking for help to name a Masai giraffe born last month.

Right now, she’s known as Baby Long Legs but zoo staff are looking for something more official.

All of the name options are in Swahili.

People can vote for their favourite online until June 17.

• Amani means peace
• Jani means leaf
• Mapenzi means love
• Matumani means hope
• Mosi means first-born
• Moyo means heart
• Umoja means unity
• Zahara means flower

The name that gets the most votes will be announced on June 21, which is World Giraffe Day.

The Toronto Zoo is currently closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
