Victoria Park pool, an outdoor pool in Hamilton’s Strathcona neighbourhood, reopened Thursday following damage to the site’s emergency phone lines.
“After a surprisingly quick response from Bell in light of the Canada Day holiday and a Public Health inspection first thing this morning, the Victoria Park pool has finally opened,” Ward 1 Coun. Maureen Wilson posted on Facebook.
Wilson encourages people to take advantage of the open swims which are free during the extended heatwave.
The Medical Officer of Health for the City of Hamilton has initiated an extended heat warning beginning on Thursday. This warning will stay in effect until a cancellation notice is sent.
Hamilton and participating community agencies are responding to the heat by offering “cool places” to go during all stages of a heat event, which can be identified by a “Cool Down Here” sign at the entrance.
