Hamilton’s Good Shepherd is holding its annual Easter Dinner Monday, aiming to feed marginalized residents with a nutritious take-away meal.

Staff and volunteers of the charity will be preparing meals for people who live below the poverty line.

“We live by our mission of hospitality at Good Shepherd, serving Easter dinner for marginalized people in the community who live in the shadow of poverty,” said Brother Richard MacPhee, the chief executive officer at The Good Shepherd in a statement. “It is an honour to serve our neighbours during the holidays – and every day.”

Dinner will take place from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Good Shepherd Centre at 135 Mary Street in Hamilton.

Ready-made meals will be distributed to guests from the side door.

This year’s dinner includes herb-roasted turkey with creamy mashed potatoes, seasonal garden vegetables, freshly baked dinner rolls, some savoury gravy, a classic cranberry sauce and a dessert to complete the meal.

The charity is one of the biggest providers of health and human services in the Greater Hamilton and Toronto and Niagara areas, helping people who are vulnerable to poverty and homelessness.
