A Hamilton woman is in hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Thorold on the weekend.
On Saturday shortly after 12 a.m. officers were called to a report of a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Merrittville Highway and Beaverdams Road.
Investigators arrived on the scene to find a heavily damaged single vehicle with one occupant.
Detectives say the 20-year-old driver was transported to an out-of-region hospital with what was described as serious injuries.
Officers say the vehicle, a white 2015 Ford Fusion, was travelling westbound on Beaverdams Road. As it approached the intersection of Merrittville Highway, it lost control and left the roadway.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The roads in the area were closed but have since reopened.
The cause of the collision and the circumstances surrounding it are still under investigation.
