Hamilton shooting sends one man to hospital

A man was taken to hospital after a shooting in east Hamilton Saturday afternoon.

It happened around two o’clock in an apartment building near Main Street East and East Avenue.

“Nothing but trouble.” That’s the way one building resident described the tenants occupying one of the units.

At least two neighbours said they’d been threatened by people living in the apartment, and several others said that the apartment was a revolving door for drug deals at all times of the day and night.

One of those deals apparently went bad just before two o’clock Saturday afternoon and that’s when another building resident said they heard a single gunshot.

Police say they are looking for two men seen leaving the area in a black SUV moments after the shooting.

Police say they have no description of the men who left in the vehicle but they do not believe the public is in any danger.

They are looking for witnesses and ask anyone who may have seen or heard the shooting to contact the central detectives office or Crimestoppers.
