Hamilton police searching Glanbrook Landfill for missing woman

Hamilton police are searching the Glanbrook Landfill site at 1500 Haldibrook Rd. for Shalini Singh, who has been missing since Dec. 10.
Singh was first reported missing alongside her common-law boyfriend, who was found on Dec. 11. Police say he is not cooperating with the investigation and has provided no information.
The case was quickly assigned to the homicide unit after the initial investigation led officers to become concerned for her safety.
Despite multiple searches of the apartment building where Singh and her boyfriend live, investigators have found no evidence relating to her disappearance.
CCTV footage was used to establish the couple’s movements in the days prior to Singh going missing. According to Hamilton police, she is not seen leaving her building after Dec. 4.

Police are currently investigating the possibility that Singh was killed in her apartment and removed from the building through its garbage disposal system.
Investigators have established that the majority of the waste collected from that apartment building goes to the Glanbrook Landfill, and began searching the site Tuesday.
The search is expected to continue for several weeks.
Community members can expect to see a heavy police presence as the investigation continues, but Hamilton police say traffic in the area will not be affected.
Police held a press conference at 2 p.m. Tuesday to give an update on the investigation.
