Hamilton police are appealing to the public for help in identifying a suspect in a 2019 jewellery heist in Ancaster.

Back on Jan. 11, 2019, police were called to an early morning break and enter at H&Z Diamond Centre on Wilson St.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspects had already fled the area.

Police learned a black and white pick-up truck crashed into the building allowing the thieves to get inside. More than $43,000 worth of jewellery was then taken from the store.

Police say the year-long investigation has led them in “several directions” and detectives have exhausted efforts in attempting to identify the people responsible.

Investigators have surveillance footage that captured one of the suspects and a vehicle.

The thief is described as being white, between 25 and 35 years of age, with a thin build, mustache, and goatee. He was wearing a black jacket, black Air Jordan track pants, black gloves, a red hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, a black baseball cap on backwards and black high top basketball shoes with red laces.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black Chevy Silverado pick-up truck with an extended cab, white hood and roof, orange trailer lights on the roof and a “Black Sabbath” logo on the back.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Andrea Torrie at 905-546-2991 or Det. Derek Donn at 905-546-8934.
