Hamilton Police looking to retire senior officers

Almost half of Hamilton’s senior police officers have been offered buyouts.

Police Chief Glenn de Caire confirms all the officers at the rank of inspector or higher have been presented with individual offers.

There is no word yet on how many officers will be cashing in on the offers, but de Caire says all the buyout offers are on a voluntary basis.

The move is not being made to save money, but instead to allow more promotion within the ranks.
