Hamilton police investigating after teen approached by unknown man

Police have launched an investigation after a 13-year-old teenage girl was approached and grabbed by an unknown man in a residential area on Hamilton mountain.

The incident happened just after 4 p.m. Thursday in the area of Mohawk Road and Southlea Drive.

According to a press release the girl was walking in the area when the man approached her, grabbed her hand and began pulling the girl, advising that she needed to go with him.

The girl immediately told the man repeatedly to stop, causing the man to let go.

Police are asking the public to report any suspicious people, suspicious vehicles or any other suspected criminal activity they may see happening in their neighbourhoods.

The suspect is described as being a skinny white man in his 50’s with a large grey beard. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall with “dirty” skin.

He was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head, black or brown coloured gloves that were ripped, dark coloured shorts with white shoes and no socks.

“The man was observed smoking cigarettes and was described as having stained yellow teeth with a front tooth missing,” the press release said.
