22-year-old woman dead after two-vehicle collision on Wilson Street West

Hamilton police say a 22-year-old woman has been killed after a two-vehicle collision on Wilson Street West Saturday morning.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m., officers say a silver Hyundai vehicle driven by a 22-year-old woman was travelling westbound on Wilson Street near Trinity Road when it swerved into the eastbound lane.

The Hyundai then struck an eastbound Cadillac being driven by a 51-year-old woman.

Both vehicles became engulfed in flames as a result of the collision.

Authorities say the 22-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 51-year-old driver of the Cadillac was taken to hospital and later released.

Wilson Street between Trinity and Alberton roads was closed for several hours while investigators were on scene but has since reopened.
