Hamilton police charge man after referee hit during ball hockey game dispute

A 31-year-old man has been charged with assault after an incident at Hamilton’s Rosedale Arena Sunday evening.

It allegedly happened during a recreational ball hockey game at around 7:25 p.m.

Hamilton police say a referee was struck by a player during a dispute over a call made during the game.

Earlier in the day the Hamilton Tigers held tryouts in the arena between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a ball hockey game at 6 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
