Hamilton police have charged a third person in connection with the murder of 53-year-old Robert Barberstock earlier this year.

Officers found Robert dead inside of a home in the area of Sanford Avenue North and Acorn Street following a shooting shortly before 4 p.m. on March 24.

Thirty minutes later, police responded to the Red Rose Motel located at 553 Queenston Rd., where a man was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. Paramedics transported him to hospital for treatment.

Investigators later discovered the injury didn’t happen at the motel, but was connected with the shooting death of Robert. Police then arrested and charged 38-year-old Luke Willems of Hamilton with first-degree murder.
