Hamilton man, 43, arrested in gunpoint robbery investigation

Hamilton police have arrested a 43-year-old man in relation to a gunpoint robbery that occurred on Sunday morning in the downtown core.

Officers say the incident happened in the area James Street North and Cannon Street West, where a 32-year-old man had his cash stolen.

Investigators are calling the gunpoint robbery a “targeted attack” and have identified the suspect as Thomas Gordon Major of Hamilton.

Major is facing several robbery and weapon-related charges.

Investigators also found that he was in possession of hard drugs such as cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Police say Major’s bail was opposed and he will be appearing in court on Wednesday.
