Hamilton police arrest two youths connected to stolen van, vehicle thefts

Hamilton police arrested two youths early Tuesday morning, who were part of a group that was allegedly trying to steal vehicles near Rymal and Fletcher Roads.
Officers were called to the area at around 2:45 a.m., following a report of people attempting to steal vehicles from driveways.
Police say they saw a white Kia Carnival van with three to five youths inside.
The van had sped off when officers tried to stop it.
Investigators say they found the van abandoned on the side of Fletcher Road a short time later.
Officers told CHCH News that the van was reported stolen with Hamilton Police Services.
Detectives say a search of the area led to officers finding an 11-year-old and a 14-year-old, both from Hamilton.
Both were arrested, with one youth facing three charges of failing to comply with a release order, and one charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
