Hamilton police arrest man for drug trafficking after traffic stop

Hamilton police arrested a 54-year-old man for trafficking crystal methamphetamine.

On Friday morning, a patrol officer stopped a vehicle that was believed to be involved in previous criminal activity.

The officer performed a traffic stop on Upper Wentworth Street and says evidence of drug possession was resting in in plain view in the car.

The man was arrested initially for drug possession but investigators later found evidence of drug trafficking including the following items:

  • 60 grams of crystal methamphetamine;
  • Two scales;
  • Dime bags with cocaine and more crystal methamphetamine and;
  • Canadian currency.

Police say the man now faces drug trafficking charges and has been held in custody ahead of his bail hearing.
