Hamilton physician and Grimsby CEO among 114 new Order of Canada recipients

The Governor General of Canada announced 114 new appointments to the order on Friday and two are from our region.
Ronald Duncan Barr, from Hamilton, has been named a member of the Order of Canada for his contributions to the field of pediatric oncology, specifically his research on cancer in adolescents and young adults.
John E. Peller, from Grimsby, has been tapped for leading and expanding his family’s wine company and for his outstanding contributions to the Canadian wine industry.
The Order of Canada was created in 1967 and is one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
It recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a future date.
