Hamilton man faces child exploitation charges

Hamilton Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit continued an investigation first launched by Saskatchewan police, into a person who was chatting online to young people through social media applications under the names “Whoami30000,” “Major Domo” and “remylee1981”.

These devices were used for luring children and were linked to a Hamilton address, police said in a statement.

Members of the ICE unit, technological crime units and uniformed patrol executed a search warrant at a Hamilton home on November 16 and seized electronic devices.

In the statement, police said a forensic examination of those electronics continues.

Robert Sowell is facing charges including luring a child under 16 years old, making sexually explicit material available to a child, possession of child pornography and three counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.

Police believe there may be more victims.
