Hamilton man charged following fatal hit-and-run of tow truck operator

Oxford OPP have charged a man allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a tow truck operator on Highway 401.

Police say the crash happened on Dec. 3 at around 7:18 a.m. in the westbound lanes, west of Oxford Road 3 in the Township of Blandford-Blenheim.

Upon arrival, detectives found a tow truck operator that was struck by an unknown vehicle while helping another driver.

The tow truck operator, a 42-year-old man from Kitchener, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Dec. 22, officers arrested and charged 32-year-old Sandeep Singh of Mount Hope, with the following offences:

  • Dangerous Operation Causing Death
  • Failure to Stop after Accident resulting in Death

The accused was released from custody and will appear in court in Woodstock on Jan. 27, 2026.
