Hamilton man arrested at Toronto airport in connection with fatal crash

Hamilton police arrested a 34-year-old man Tuesday at Toronto Pearson International Airport in connection with a fatal collision in April.

Omar Bataineh was wanted in relation to the deadly hit-and-run that happened just after 2 a.m. on April 8. A pickup truck struck and killed Glen Clark, 42, on Upper Wentworth St. north of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.

At the time, police said it was the ninth traffic fatality in Hamilton this year.

Officers issued an arrest warrant for Bataineh on April 22.

Investigators later discovered he had left the country.

Bataineh was then arrested Tuesday at Toronto’s Pearson airport. He has been charged with failure to stop after accident resulting in death.

Bataineh is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 29.
