The H.M.C.S Haida lies on Hamilton’s waterfront as a great piece of Canadian history, and on Sunday the national historic site had a record breaking Canada Day weekend, with roughly 2,300 visitors flocking to see the destroyer that was used in World War Two.

Many took advantage to check out the ship, that served during the Korean War and the Cold War from 1943 to 1963, with free admission for the entire summer. The Haida measures at 115 meters long, equipped with torpedo tubes and guns for guarding supply ships or for destroying anything from submarines and airplanes to battle ships.

The Devil’s Punch Bowl Conservation Area was another popular spot today.

Many came to take in the beautiful view of the city and the jaw-dropping waterfall.

This Canada Day long weekend was one for the books in Hamilton.
