Hamilton Hammers sign defenceman Brandon Scanlin

The Hamilton Hammers announced on Thursday that they have signed defenceman Brandon Scanlin to a one-year American Hockey League (AHL) contract.

Scanlin, 27, a native of Hamilton, spent the past five seasons in the New York Rangers organization, mainly with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL.

Last season, Scanlin appeared in 49 games with Hartford, recording four goals and seven assists for 11 points.

During his time in Hartford, Scanlin appeared in 255 AHL games, contributing 24 goals and 33 assists for a total of 57 points.

He was recalled by the New York Rangers and made his National Hockey League debut during his 2023-24 season.

Scanlin played three seasons of NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

During his 98-game collegiate career, Scanlin accumulated 62 points with 11 goals and 51 assists.

In 2020, Scanlin was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team and earned NCHC Honourable Mention All-Star Team the following season.
