Hamilton couple, dog die in single-vehicle crash in Burlington
A Hamilton man and woman and a dog have died following an early morning single-vehicle crash on Guelph Line in Burlington.
The collision happened around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Guelph Line and Lowville Park Road.
Investigators say the driver of a silver Mitsubishi sedan slid off the roadway while trying to make a left turn and struck a retaining wall near the entrance of Lowville Park and Lowville Bistro. Speed is thought to have been a contributing factor.
A 41-year-old woman and a small dog were pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramedics transported a 47-year-old man with serious injuries to Milton District Hospital, where he later died.
The corner of the crash is known to be a dangerous one, with people often speeding in the area. Large rocks had been placed in front of the restaurant and park entrance years ago due to ongoing safety concerns and car accidents.
Halton police are currently investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to contact its collision reconstruction unit at 905-825-4747 ext. 5065.
