Halton police seek man suspected of torching downtown Milton businesses

Halton police are looking for a man suspected of setting fire to three businesses in downtown Milton early Friday morning.

Officers say at around 1:20 a.m. fires were started at the storefronts of Wildflour Bakery, Terra Mar Portuguese Cuisine, and both the front and back of Mirror By Nurse Yara — three businesses side-by-side on Main Street.

Investigators say there was a strong smell of gasoline at the scene of the fire. They say a gas can was found.

Detectives are looking for a man in connection with the fire, who they say was wearing a dark-coloured jacket when he was allegedly seen fleeing the area.

The damage estimate to the businesses have not been determined yet, and no one was reported injured.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.
