Halton police have arrested and charged a 51-year-old man from North York in connection with a series of break-ins that occurred in Oakville.

Earlier this month, authorities were called to two different break-ins in a southeast neighbourhood in Oakville.

Police say there were a total of 14 break-ins between Jan. 5 and 13.

Authorities were able to establish a pattern wherein perpetrators would target luxury homes during the dimly lit hours of the early evening and often gained access by smashing the rear patio glass door when no one was home.

Investigators say thieves managed to steal items like jewellery, cash and other valuable possessions.

Toronto police responded to a similar incident on Jan. 16 but were able to nab one of the perpetrators at the scene of the crime and make an arrest.

Authorities were able to link the suspect back to the break-ins that took place throughout Oakville, and a man was charged by Halton police on Jan. 19.

Paata Porchkhidze, 51, of North York was charged with five counts of break and enter and two counts of disguise with intent.

Detectives believe he’s a part of a larger organized group and are continuing to look for additional suspects they believe have targeted and broke into homes around the GTA.
