Hamilton police are investigating an early Saturday morning home invasion at a residence east of the downtown core.
Officers say at approximately 2:30 a.m. residents were woken up by the sound of a door being smashed in their home. Three men then stormed into their bedroom demanding money.
Three men then stormed into their bedroom demanding money while one of the men revealed a handgun. The other two men then began rummaging through the house.
After a brief standoff, the men fled the house on foot.
Authorities say the group’s last known direction of travel was northbound on Birch Avenue towards Cannon Street East.
Two of the men are described as white, 15 to 25 years of age and wearing a dark coloured sweater, dark pants, a dark coloured backpack and a black balaclava.
The second suspect is described as a light skinned Black man that is between 15 and 25 years of age. He is described as wearing a dark coloured sweater, dark pants and wearing gloves. Officers add that he was the one who brandished a firearm.
