Ground beef recall expands

For the sixth time in a week, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is expanding a recall of ground beef from Edmonton-based XL Foods.

The recall is because of possible E. coli contamination. It affects hamburgers sold at most big name grocery stores across the country. It now also includes un-labelled ground beef products sold between August 24th and September 16th at small retailers, local meat markets and butcher shops.

No one has become ill; anyone who has the recalled meat is being urged to check with the store where it was purchased, or to throw it out.
