ADHD stress
The school year is already into its third week; daily routines for parents and their children should be settling down nicely.
However if your child has to deal with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, there really isn’t a day without stress and worry. Compounding that situation are school systems which for one reason or another can’t or won’t deal with both the stigma and unique challenges that the disorder presents.
In fact more than half of the Canadian parents surveyed in a new report were not satisfied with the help their child is receiving at school, nor the knowledge that teachers and principals are perceived to have about ADHD. no wonder parents are stressed out.
Joining us in studio today is Dr Kenny Handelman, child psychiatrist and expert on ADHD. Beside him is Heidi Bernhardt, national director of the Centre for ADHD Advocacy Canada.
