Green button initiative aims to manage energy use
A new program is promising to help people in Ontario save money by letting them manage their energy use.
Energy minister Chris Bentley announced the Green Button initiative. It’s a program that will give people direct access to energy information, so that software designers can help them create tools to save electricity.
“The Green Button is as simple as saying that your information about how you consume energy and when you consume energy should be available to you in a standard format so that software developers can take that information, design a program that will fit you.”
Bentley says families and businesses will be able to access their information through their utility’s website.
