Gangs and weapons officers charged
Two Hamilton Police officers will be in court December 20th to face charges.
Both are from the gangs and weapons unit. Robert Hansen, 38, is a detective constable with 12 years on the force. He’s charged with fabricating evidence and perjury. Police say “on an application for a search warrant, information is alleged to have been falsified.”
Detective constable Craig Ruthowksy, 38, is a 14-year veteran. He’s charged with breach of trust and obstruction of justice, after it’s alleged confidential information was disclosed to an unauthorized person.
Both are on the province’s “sunshine list” of employees making more than $100,000 a year. Hansen earned over $116,000 last year, and Ruthowsky made $112,000.
