When the Game Stands Tall is a true-life sports drama directed by Thomas Carter (Coach Carter). Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ) stars as Bob Ladouceur, head coach of the De La Salle high-school football team, the Spartans. Ladouceur took charge of the team in 1979 without any prior coaching experience, but through a program based on inspiration he was able to turn the Spartans into a dominant winning machine. Under his guidance the team won 12 straight state championships and ran up a 151 victory streak – the American record. The film follows the team through a number of devastating losses, both on and off the field. The cast co-stars Laura Dern, Michael Chiklis, and Alexander Ludwig.

As he demonstrated with Coach Carter, director Thomas Carter has a great ability to make inspiring sports films. When he read the script for When the Game Stands Tall he knew it was up his alley. “I wanted to tell this story because what makes the program Bob Ladouceur and Terry Eidson built at De La Salle so special is that it focuses on producing young men of real character. Building character is something we all hear talked about a lot out there, but these guys really did it.”

When the Game Stands Tall is rated PG.
