Funeral
A private funeral will be held in Nashville on Sunday afternoon
for Wade Belak.
The body of the ex-NHL enforcer was found Wednesday in a
Toronto hotel after an apparent suicide.
Belak, who was 35, leaves a wife and two daughters, aged seven
and five.
After a 14-year career with five NHL teams, Belak was preparing
to spend the coming season as a hockey broadcaster in Nashville.
Belak is the third hockey tough guy to die in four months.
Derek Boogaard died of a drug overdose and Rick Rypien killed himself.
The three deaths have prompted the NHL and the Players’ Association to launch a review of their substance abuse and behavioural health programs.
